The free NoMachine product is designed to work the same across Windows, Mac and Linux and give users access to the physical desktop of the remote computer. If you need to create virtual Linux desktops on demand, want to limit the logins to SSH, or are using NIS, Kerberos or other enterprise functionalities, you need one of the NoMachine Enterprise products you can download here.

Note that you can use NoMachine 8 as a client of a NoMachine server, or you can download the free Enterprise client here.

Downloading and Installing

DEB version
  • Click on Download and save the DEB file.
  • Install the package by using the graphical package manager provided by your Linux distribution or from command line by running:

      $ sudo dpkg -i nomachine_8.11.3_4_i386.deb
If you don't have the sudo utility installed, log on as superuser ("root") and run the command without sudo.

Recommended System Requirements

The software is designed to work on computers with minimal HW requirements. Although the software may work with inferior CPUs or reduced RAM, for best performance NoMachine recommends you match the listed requirements.

  • Intel Core2 Duo, AMD Athlon Dual-Core or equivalent
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 110 MB free disk space
  • Network connection (either a LAN, or Internet link: broadband, cable, DSL, etc.)
Software
  • A desktop environment must already be installed. For more information about default desktop environments, please read here.
